Be a Kiwi Hero
You are here: Kiwi Conservation » Get Involved
Our fuzzy little friends need looking after, so they'll be around for generations to come. Here's how you can do your bit:
Be a responsible pet owner. We all love our pets, but they can be a threat to kiwi, so here's what you can do:
Keep cats indoors as much as possible, especially at night
Never take your dog in areas where kiwi live
When walking your dog, keep it on a short lead
Take your dog to kiwi aversion training
Support local kiwi recovery projects.
All over New Zealand, there are groups working to help kiwi survive and thrive. Help out your local group by volunteering, fundraising, or sponsoring a kiwi chick. You could:
Bake kiwi cookies and sell them to raise funds
Run a kiwi themed mufti day at school for a gold coin
Do a kiwi coin trail at school
School Holidays Programmes
Rainbow Springs often runs school holiday programmes so keep a beady eye out on our website for what's coming up. These don't run during the summer holidays.
