Nikau
The Nikau is the most southern-growing palm in the world, and New Zealand’s only native palm.
The nikau is extremely slow growing and will not flower until 30 years of age. The nikau is related to the date palm and coconut and the nikau’s berries are an important food source for kaka and kereru.
