Today, Rainbow Springs Wildlife Park offers a unique experience where you can get up close and personal with New Zealand wildlife. With over 140,000 people visiting the park each year, this is a ‘must do’ for all families, locals and tourists. Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park are focused on conservation and sustainability making it an award winning tourist attraction that offers a world class visitors experience.
At Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park, you can take in the scenery at your own pace. As you walk through the 22 acre parkland, you’ll encounter some spectacular flora and wildlife including New Zealand natives and introduced species.
Whether it is night or day, there is plenty to see and do:
- Watch New Zealand’s own kiwi in their natural environment as they forage for food.
- View the nocturnal kiwi when it comes out at night in an outdoor walk through enclosure.
- Feed the trout in the crystal clear spring fed pools and see them close up in the underwater viewer.
- See the trout circle at night in the spectacularly lit Rainbow Pool.
- Spot the kea, kaka, weka and many more native birds in the avaries and amongst the trees.
- Check out the tuatara – a living dinosaur
- Enjoy a picnic lunch with the family on the Fairy Springs lawn, where you’ll be surrounded by a gathering of sheep, donkey, pigs and chickens.
- Admire the native New Zealand bush surroundings with over 90 different native plants, trees and ferns throughout the park.
- Walk by the crystal clear mineral water that flows directly from the subterranean springs throughout the park.

Rainbow Springs Wildlife Park is also home to Kiwi Encounter – New Zealand’s first and only ‘open to view’ kiwi hatchery and rearing facility.
