Kiwi
The flightless kiwi is a territorial and solitary bird and is nocturnal.
The North Island Brown Kiwi is not officially listed as an endangered species however it is absolutely protected. Being the only bird in the world with nostrils on the tip of its bill, they have a great sense of smell and use their bill to forage for food.
