Kaka
This large forest dwelling parrot often behaves just like a monkey, using their bill or feet to climb and swing through branches.
Favourite foods include the native berries, kauri tree seeds, and the nector from flax, kowhai and rata trees. In recent years, kaka have been victim to deforestation and predators including stoats and competing for food with possums and wasps.
