Kea
An entertaining, inquisitive and yet misunderstood sub-alpine parrot. In fact the worlds only 'alpine' parrot lives right here in New Zealand.
The kea is undoubtedly the “character’ of NZ birds. It must surely be one of the most inquisitive, mischievous, entertaining birds in the world, stories of its antics being legion. Abundant in native forest on the western side of the mountains, kea are a great attraction at tourist centres and ski huts.
