New Zealand Native Long Finned Eels
In New Zealand eels are common in fresh water, although not always well regarded by those coming in contact with their slimy snake-like bodies.
This species of eel is endemic and have a continuous fin running the middle of the back and around the tail. The long-finned eel is one of the largest freshwater eels in the world and can grow up to 2 metres.
