Rotorua’s only night kiwi experience extended

Rainbow Springs Nature Park and Mitai Māori Village have announced their popular ‘Beauty By Night’ combo will be extended throughout the winter months for the first time ever.

Previously offered from October to March, the extension means that Rotorua visitors will be able to see kiwi outdoors at night throughout the whole year (excluding Christmas Day).

The ‘Beauty By Night Combo’ allows people to experience Mitai Māori Village (a culture performance, hangi and cultural walk) as well as a private guided experience of Rainbow Springs Nature Park after the park closes.

The private park tour includes an exclusive after hours guided walk featuring some of New Zealand’s most endangered species, the newly developed Kiwi Burrow experience and the outdoor night aviaries. It is currently the only way for visitors to Rotorua to see the nocturnal kiwi, New Zealand’s icon, outdoors at night.

The extension is a result of increased demand for the combo product over the previous years.

“Our manuhiri (visitors) are really enjoying the combination of cultural and authentic New Zealand nature with this product combo - at such an attractive price it really is no surprise it is growing in popularity,” says Mitai’s Sales & Marketing Manager Tania Charteris.

“TripAdvisor and our other feedback channels show just how much our manuhiri love seeing kiwi outdoors at night. We’re pleased to be able to continue to partner with Mitai so we can offer this unique experience to Rotorua visitors all year round,” Rainbow Springs Business Manager David Hennigan added.

The ‘Beauty by Night Combo’ is available for purchase through both Mitai Māori Village and Rainbow Springs websites: and
